Our Mission and Vision – HIJAS

The vision of our institute is to connect interdisciplinary “Japanese studies” in various parts of the world. Our goal is to bring dynamic development to the “Japanese studies” and establish a new field of “International Japanese Studies.” Based upon this principle, we have engaged in founding the Consortium for Global Japanese Studies, an association initiated by the International Research Center for Japanese Studies, and enhancing recognition of the “International Japanese Studies” worldwide. We continue to further expand the disciplinary field, searching for new historical materials and developing new approaches.

We follow the Hosei University Charter “Practical Wisdom for Freedom,” which goes beyond mere practical learning.
