■ Overview
In this seminar, we will discuss the idea and methods of “Kokusai Nihongaku” from a transnational perspective while reflecting back upon the development of our research institute – HIJAS. It has been almost twenty years since “Kokusai Nihongaku” was launched in the early 2000s. In the meantime, the situation of “kokusai” and “nihon” both have changed drastically. By employing a perspective that cuts across the nation-state framework, Transnational Japanese Studies aims to capture the transformative and fluid nature of Japan and provide a new and alternative image of the country different from those hitherto analyses based on the nation-state framework.
This event will be held in Japanese.
