Summary of Meeting
We welcomed Prof. Dr. Zhang Jifeng, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and conducted the meeting on the theme of “Economical Cooperation between Japan and China: the past, present and the future”. The focus was to examine an economical development between Japan and China and look to the future.
Characteristic of economical cooperation between Japan and China is mutual complement and indirect reciprocity. Chinese advantages are natural resources, manpower, low wages, demographic bonus, potential market and Japanese advantages are funding ability, technical power, brand image, and management. These advantages are essential to both countries. Using these elements both countries could establish the win-win relationship by which they get interest each other. Added to this it must be possible that a market rule and rationality of management would overcome political issues and national sentiments.
As a result it becomes important to accelerate economical cooperation, establish the Japan-China Foundation to Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection, form Japan-China Community to Energy and Environment, then build the foundation of the East Asian Community.
