Visit to Center by Professor WANG Xiuwen

“Research and Education in the Communication of ‘Other’ Culture at Dalian Nationalities University, China”

Director of the International Language and Culture Research Center of Dalian Nationalities University, WANG Xiuwen visited our university on 22 April 2009, and had important discussions regarding exchange between the two universities with Governor TOKUYASU Akira, International Exchange Center Director, HAYASHI Kimiyoshi and Center Manager, HIROOKA Yasuhisa, and others. Research Center for International Japanese Studies Governor, HOSHINO Tsutomu, Director, ABIKO Shin, and Staff Appointee/Professor WANG Min were also granted a meeting, and WANG Xiuwen talked about Japanese/Chinese understanding of ‘other’ culture and communication in ‘other’ culture, and about the state of research and education in Japanese language and culture.

On this occasion we discussed the cooperation of both Centers towards 1) holding international symposiums, 2) providing papers for and editing a joint academic journal, 3) joint research projects, 4) research trips and sending visiting scholars, and 5) holding regular research presentations and academic talks etc. The meeting was worthwhile in confirming among the participants an increased cooperation between the two Centers. We look forward to further, greater exchange between Dalian Nationalities University and this university.
